Project Two
For project 2 I wanted show the pressures and the expectation to be perfect in the sport gymnastics. I based my research off of a gymnast named Christina Henrich who died at age 22 from anorexia and eating disorders.
The thinking skill for project 2 was perspective. I used the perspective of a gymnast who get called names and judge with expectations to be perfect. My art piece was a leotard with rude labels on it, in the idea that gymnast would wear it she's being called these names. For English I made 3 charts in the perspective of a gymnast and what she eats, her diet. History I wrote an informative essay about the pressures of gymnastics and the back ground and how a gymnast work and what she would feel everyday.
Art
For my art portion I took an old leotard (which is what a gymnast would wear to practice). I lasered quotes into it that were and are said to gymnast. With the expectation of them to be perfect. The reason that you hardly see them is to give you the feeling like there never said, even though they are but nobody really thinks about it. "Loose weight", "You're too fat", "You're not good enough" are some of the quotes engraved to the piece. On the back is a quote from Simone Biles. |
